POTW definition

POTW means Publicly Owned Treatment Works; a treatment works (see Part IV.29 below) which is owned by a state or municipality.
POTW means publicly owned treatment works, i.e. the permittee.

  • It also includes sewers, pipes, and other conveyances only if they convey wastewater to a POTW treatment plant.

More Definitions of POTW

POTW means a publicly owned treatment works as defined by Section 19-5-102.
POTW means a publicly owned treatment works as defined in 40 CFR 501.2.
POTW means Publicly Owned Treatment Works as defined by Section 212 of the Act. This includes any sewers that convey wastewater to a POTW treatment plant, but does not include pipes, sewers or other conveyances not connected to a facility providing treatment.

The term also means the municipality, as defined in section 502(4) of the CWA, which has jurisdiction over the Indirect Discharges to and the discharge from such a treatment works.
