Public use data definition

Public use data means any form of data from the department’s comprehensive discharge database or facility level database that does not allow the identification of an individual from the elements released in the data files.
Public use data means patient level data relating to individual hospitalizations that has not been summarized or analyzed, that has had patient identifying information removed, that identifies physicians only by use of uniform physician identifiers, and that is severity and risk adjusted, edited, and verified for accuracy and consistency. Public use data may exclude some data elements submitted to the department.
Public use data means data that contains no personally identifiable or sensitive information which requires no specific procedures to protect confidentiality and is otherwise classified as Tier 0 Data.
