The City recognizes the Union as the sole and exclusive bargaining representative of employees of the Police Department including but limited to Police Officer and Sergeant.
It is also recognized that members within the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Commander perform day-to-day supervisory job duties and in such capacity have authority on behalf of the City to both resolve grievances and to interpret and apply the provisions of the Contract.
If a grievance is resolved by a Sergeant, Lieutenant, or Commander that the City believes is not in conformance with the provisions of this Contract, the City shall notify the Lodge within fourteen (14) days of the Human Resources Director’s or designee’s receipt of the resolution.
Twenty percent (20%) over the top step hourly rate for Sergeant when acting as a supervisor (otherwise twenty percent (20%) over the top step hourly rate for Police Officer).
If an employee is promoted to a new promotional position (Sergeant or above) which results in a salary increase of five percent (5.0%) or more, then a new merit review date will be established for that employee on the same basis as shown above for new employees.
