Shallow land burial definition

Shallow land burial means a land disposal facility in which radioactive waste is disposed of in or within the upper thirty meters of the earth's surface; however, this definition shall not include an enclosed, engineered, strongly structurally enforced and solidified bunker that extends below the earth's surface.
Shallow land burial means the disposal of waste in an excavated trench constructed entirely below grade without a below-ground vault and without below-ground canisters.
