Think Tank. A generic definition In this subsection we provide a clear definition of what a think tank is, so that authors and readers share the same views and understanding. They are groups that seek to influence legislation and public opinion via reports and supported research released to the news media, lawmakers and the public. Think tanks offer a way to effect change and communicate with people who are interested in like causes. An effective think tank requires a clear message, people who are willing to do the work, and published research1”.
