10
Exemplo prático
Como se pronuncia a palavra three?
a) Igual à palavra “tree”.
Resposta certa: TODAS AS ALTERNATIVAS ACIMA.
Depende do local em que você está.
11
Vale a pena aperfeiçoar meu sotaque?
Sem dúvida. Como faremos isso?
• Conhecimento (adequação / inadequação);
• Autoconfiança;
• Motivação;
• EXPOSIÇÃO à língua;
Listening e pronunciation andam de mãos dadas.

TONICIDADE
13
Classificação das línguas quanto ao ritmo!
SYLLABLE-TIMED
STRESS-TIMED
The chocolate is delicious.
14
Dica do século!
a) Patient
b) Success
c) Maintenance
d) International
e) Coffee
f) Interesting
g) Delicious

15
A tonicidade em sentenças
a) It is a very important night.
b) What are you going to do?
c) Did you go there last Tuesday?
d) The band’s name is “System of a Down”.
16
FONEMAS
17
a) Food | a) Tough | a) Cake |
b) Boot | b) Bough | b) Father |
c) Book | c) Bought | c) Cat |
d) Blood | d) Through | d) Law |
Espanhol: 5 sons vocálicos: A Ê I Ô U Português (BR): 7 sons vocálicos: A Ê É I Ô Ó U Inglês (AmE): 12 sons vocálicos;

Dear Xxxxx,
Yesterday I had a very strange dream. I met four Indians who had a problem with their car engine. One of them was trying to climb a fire escape to get to a person’s apartment and use the phone. Another was sticking her umbrella in the engine to start it. The third wore a red dress and the fourth asked me: “Could you call our insurance company for us?” It was so weird.
