Meal/Rest Period. The Employer will continue the practice of seeking to provide nurses with meal and break periods as follows: Nurses who work a minimum of six (6) hours or more will be provided an unpaid meal period of one-half (1/2) hour during their shift. Nurses required by the Employer to remain on duty during their meal period shall be compensated for such time at the appropriate rate of pay. Nurses who work a minimum of four (4) hours will be provided a paid rest period of fifteen (15) minutes for each four (4) hours of work. Meal and rest periods cannot be combined, used to leave work early, or accumulated from one day to another.

Meal/Rest Period. Except as provided in Section 9.1(d), all employees shall receive an unpaid meal period of one-half (½) hour. Employees required by supervision to work during this meal period shall be compensated for such work at the appropriate rate of pay. All employees shall be allowed the equivalent of two (2) paid rest periods of fifteen (15) minutes each during each shift of eight (8) hours or more in duration. Employees working twelve (12) hour shifts will receive the equivalent of three fifteen (15) minute paid breaks. Breaks may be taken intermittently and will be administered in accordance with applicable law including the Washington Administrative Code. It is not the intention of the parties to change the current practice of allowing employees a total of fifteen (15) minutes for a rest break.

Meal/Rest Period. The basic work day shall include a thirty (30) minute meal period on the nurse’s own time if relieved of duties during this period. If not relieved of duties and unable to leave the unit or Hospital, the nurse shall be compensated for such time at the appropriate rate of pay. Fifteen (15) minutes in each four (4) hour period shall comprise the rest period of nurses. Rest periods and meal breaks will be administered in accordance with Washington law and the WAC regulations. Meal/Rest Period. Providence Alaska Medical Center and Alaska Nurses Association reaffirm the intent of Article 6.4 of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, Meal/Rest Period. This issue has been of utmost concern to both the Medical Center and the bargaining unit. Numerous meetings have been held and numerous possible solutions have been offered and discussed. It is agreed that each unit must develop and implement a plan for both meals and rest periods. The Medical Center and the union agree to collaborate in making break periods available and encouraging nurses to take their breaks. The parties agree to utilize the Operational Excellence team to help address this issue. Bargaining unit representatives will be included in this process. Meal/Rest Period. All employees shall receive an unpaid thirty (30) minute meal period during each regular work day; provided, however, that if an employee is required by the Employer to remain on the premises or to work during the meal period, such time shall be considered as time worked for pay purposes. Meal/Rest Period. Nonexempt employees working more than 5 hours in a shift will be allowed a meal break of at least 30 minutes. The meal break must be taken between the second and fifth hour of work. An additional meal break will be provided for each additional five hours of work and will be given within five hours from the end of the first meal break. Nonexempt employees who work at least three or more hours longer than the normally scheduled shift will be allowed at least one 30-minute meal break prior to or during the extra work time. Uninterrupted meal breaks of at least 30 minutes, during which the employee is completely relieved of duty, are unpaid. An employee who is entitled to a second meal break on a shift may voluntarily waive the second meal break of the shift. The employee may rescind their waiver of the second meal break at any time. The Hospital may solicit information and paperwork from employees necessary to comply with State and Local wage and hour laws (e.g., meal break waivers). Nurses shall receive one (1) paid fifteen (15) minute break during every four (4) hours of work.

Employees shall receive an unpaid meal period of one-half (½) hour for all shifts in excess of five (5) hours. Employees required by supervision to work during this meal period shall be compensated for such work at the appropriate rate of pay. All employees shall be allowed two (2) paid rest periods of fifteen (15) minutes each , which may be taken intermittently or uninterrupted, during each shift of eight (8) hours or more in duration. Employees may choose to take their rest breaks intermittently by providing written and/or verbal notification to their supervisor. The employer will comply with federal and state laws regarding meal and rest periods.
Meal/Rest Period. All on-set Employees are to receive a first unpaid meal/rest period of thirty (30) minutes commencing NOT earlier than the beginning of the second hour of work, and not later than the end of the sixth (6th) hour of work, from the beginning of an individual’s start time, as given by the Company to each Employee. Subsequent meal/rest periods will commence not earlier than the beginning of the fourth hour of work, and not later than the end of the sixth hour of work, after the end of a prior meal/rest period. Thirty (30) minutes maximum will be deducted from Employees’ time sheets for each meal/rest period received.
