Academic Calendar. Section 4.1. The work year shall not exceed one hundred seventy-five (175) days inclusive of days specified by the District as Faculty In-Service days as part of the "Flex Calendar". Faculty In-Service days shall not exceed seven (7) days in any one academic year. Section 4.2. The Academic Calendar shall be determined by the President upon recommendation from the Senate and Superintendent/President’s Executive Committee in order to provide the most convenient and educationally sound schedule for students. The Academic Calendar shall be determined and posted no later than October 1 of each calendar year for the following academic year. (a) In the event the recommended calendar proposes a significant change in the pattern of the academic year, the recommendation will be made no later than September 15 of the calendar year for the following academic year, and shall be submitted to the Executive Board of the Association for concurrence. Should consensus not be reached, the calendar shall be subject to negotiations between the District and the Association. (b) The number of faculty duty days may be reopened by either party upon thirty (30) days written notice to the other provided that such notice is given no later than September 1, of the academic year preceding the year in which the proposed change is to take place.
