Common use of Acting Assignment Clause in Contracts

Acting Assignment. An acting assignment shall only be made by Command personnel (Lieutenant or above) and shall be in writing. The two (2) hours acting assignment for which an employee does not receive the rate of the higher classification shall only be used in emergency situations, for lunch periods and/or breaks. Employees so ordered shall receive the rate of the higher classification. In instances of temporary acting assignments within the various divisions and units, subject to the needs of the service, Management will consider seniority. The duration of an Acting Assignment shall be limited to one (1) year. By mutual agreement, the parties may extend the one (1) year limitation. Any disputes with respect to this provision shall be subject to the Grievance Procedure.
