Acting Opportunities. Acting opportunities shall be offered to qualified employees within their established reporting structure in the most current organizational charts. a) Acting opportunities for less than fourteen (14) days shall be offered to a qualified employee at work according to a rotating list in order of seniority. The Employer will maintain and post the list within the work area. The first employee on the list shall have the first opportunity and whether the employee accepts, declines, or is unavailable shall be deemed to have had their opportunity. b) Acting opportunities of fourteen (14) calendar days or longer will be awarded to the most senior qualified employee for which the Employer has posted the qualifications in the department(s) the acting opportunity is open to and exists. The posting shall state that the Employer may, at its discretion, waive all or part of the qualification requirements for this opportunity if no qualified employee is willing to accept the acting position. c) In the event that there is no qualified employee who is willing to accept the acting position, the Employer may appoint the most senior permanent employee who is willing, and who has the ability to perform the job. If no employee is willing, the Employer may appoint the least senior employee who has the ability to perform the job.
