Affect of Leaves of Absence on Accrued and Banked PTO. Employees do not accrue PTO time during leaves of absence whether the leave of absence is unpaid of compensated through short- or long-term disability. If an employee begins a leave of absence on or prior to the 15th day of the month, he or she will not accrue any PTO hours for that month unless he or she returns to active status in the same month he or she left.
