An individual serving ten. (10) consecutive years within the WEA unit and eligible for retirement due to age, years of service, or medical reasons, shall receive fifty percent (50%) of their accumulated sick time, at their current per diem rate, to a maximum as follows: • 2021-2022 - $15,000. • 2022-2023 - $18,000. • 2023-2024 - $20,000. Eligibility for the above payment requires irrevocable notice to district no later than March 1st for a June retirement or September 1st for an end of first semester retirement. The calculation for this payment will be based on the remaining sick day balance as of the last day of school. Payment will occur on the last pay date in June. In the event of death of an employee, at any time, payment of the amount delineated above, shall be made to the estate of the employee. Any teacher who receives the payment delineated above shall only be eligible for the payment one (1) time.
