First Semester support growth and mentoring oriented
(i) Step 1 - The mentor is identified by the Xxxx in consultation with the instructor. The identified mentor will possess provincial teaching certification or a Provincial Instructor's Diploma or combination of educational and instructional experience.
(ii) Step 2 - Interim student evaluation within six (6) weeks of appointment. Designated mentors will be provided with release time to perform the duties of a mentor.
(iii) Step 3 - Mentor meets with the instructor two (2) weeks after student evaluation to discuss the results and schedule class observation time. At this time, the criteria for observation shall be established.
(iv) Step 4 - Classroom observation takes place within three (3) weeks of the student evaluation.
(v) Step 5 - Reflection and feedback takes place within one (1) week of the classroom observation. Mentor and instructor meet to discuss the results of the observations within two (2) weeks of the observation.
(vi) Step 6 - Student report on teaching (SRT) at the end of the first (1st) semester.
(vii) Step 7 - Feedback on SRT. Within one (1) week of completion the Xxxx will meet with the instructor to review SRT and discuss issues that need to be addressed. At this time the criteria for observation in the second semester will be established.
First Semester. The following duties are to be performed during the Fall semester of the candidate’s first contract period:
1. the Individual Tenure Review Committee shall be established; and
2. an orientation meeting with the candidate shall be held to discuss the evaluation process and the timelines.
3. the committee shall meet to review all the pertinent areas of the evaluation and evaluation materials;
4. one observation shall be made by each of the committee members, unless additional observations are requested by the candidate;
5. the candidate shall submit Candidate’s Self-Assessment (form C);
6. the candidate’s sitting academic area leader shall conduct the duties and responsibilities evaluation;
7. the committee shall decide upon an employment recommendation for the candidate, and, if appropriate, shall establish a specific course of action for helping the candidate improve in recognized areas of weakness, and the committee shall complete the Candidate’s Improvement Plan (form Q); and
8. the committee shall meet with the candidate to discuss the recommendation, and, if appropriate, to present a course of action for the candidate to improve in recognized areas of weakness, and the committee shall complete the Evaluation and Recommendations form (form B);
First Semester. Adjustments in salary schedule positions will be made effective the first day of paid service of the employee, provided: (1) academic work is completed prior to the opening day of school; (2) verification of work completed is received in the Human Resources Office on or before the last day of the first semester. Adjustment in salary schedule position will be made for academic work completed after the first day of work and will be effective the first day of the month following completion of the course provided verification is received in the Human Resources Office on or before the last day of the first semester.

First Semester a. If a teacher does not use any personal/family illness days during the first semester the teacher shall be entitled to a payment of five hundred ($500) dollars on or before January 31.
b. A teacher who uses one-half (1/2) to one (1) day of their personal/family illness days during the first semester shall be entitled to a payment of three hundred ($300) dollars on or before January 31.
c. A teacher who uses one and one-half (1 1/2) to two (2) days of their personal/family illness days during the semester shall be entitled to a payment of two hundred ($200) dollars on or before January 31.
d. Teachers employed for less than fifty (50) teacher workdays during the first semester will have their incentive stipend reduced by fifty (50%) percent.
