Benefit Period. (Medicare) means, under Medicare, the period of consecutive days that begins with the first day on which an Enrollee is furnished Inpatient Hospitalization or extended care services by the MCO, and ends at the close of a period of sixty (60) consecutive days during which the Enrollee was neither an inpatient in a hospital nor met the criteria for payment for a Skilled Nursing Facility.
