Classification Structures. 5.8.1 A description of the classifications and the classification process for employees are outlined in the relevant schedules as follows: School Officers Schedules 8 and 9 (Refer clauses 5.9 and 5.10) Nurses 12 Services Staff 13 Boarding Supervisors 14 Children Services 15 5.8.2 An employee may request a reclassification of their position in relation to either the classification level of an existing position or where the classification level of the position has been changed (the request). 5.8.3 Except in exceptional circumstances no employee can request a reclassification of their position on more than one occasion in a twelve (12) month period. 5.8.4 The employee must make the request in writing to the employer, which will contain the following: (a) A description of the work performed by the employee; (b) The employee’s assessment as to whether their position description is accurate and any substantiating reasons for that assessment; (c) Information comparing the work performed and the characteristics, skills and duties, and criteria prescribed by this Agreement for the respective levels; and (d) The identity of persons who support the subject employee’s application for review; (e) Other material as appropriate. 5.8.5 An employee may be assisted and/or represented in preparing and submitting the material identified in subclause 4 and in any discussion with the employer related to the request. 5.8.6 The employer will: (a) consider the information provided in the request; and (b) notify the employee in writing of the decision regarding the request: (i) within sixty (60) calendar days of receiving the request; or (ii) by the last day in February of the following year of a request received in December. 5.8.7 A classification review may be the subject of clause 2.4 (Procedures for Preventing and Settling Disputes) of this Agreement.
