Emergency Services Leave. (a) An Employee who engages in a voluntary emergency management activity is entitled to be absent without loss of pay from his or her employment for a total of 5 days per annum commencing at the start of each calendar year. For the avoidance of doubt, any days not utilised by the Employee by the end of the calendar year, do not carry over into the subsequent year.
(b) Voluntary emergency management activity has the meaning provided by the FWA.
Emergency Services Leave a) The company is an essential service and release of employees has to have regard to the company operational requirement to meet its customer and community demands during times of emergency. Employees will be provided with paid leave to attend to emergency service issues that relate to threats such as ▇▇▇▇ fires & floods where practicable in their local community. No limit shall apply to this leave, however proof will be required of participation/attendance and each case will be examined on its merits, having regard to the company’s operational requirements.
b) Other Local needs relating to emergency services close to the employee's home and community will continue to get company support.
Emergency Services Leave. 25.1 Subject to operational requirements, paid leave of absence shall be granted by the employer to an employee who is an active volunteer member of State Emergency Service Units, St ▇▇▇▇ Ambulance Brigade, Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service Brigades, ▇▇▇▇ Fire Brigades, Volunteer Marine Rescue Services Groups or FESA Units, in order to allow for attendance at emergencies as declared by the recognised authority.
25.2 The employer shall be advised as soon as possible by the employee, the emergency service, or other person as to the absence and, where possible, the expected duration of leave.
25.3 The employee must complete a leave of absence form immediately upon return to work.
25.4 The application form must be accompanied by a certificate from the emergency organisation certifying that the employee was required for the specified period.
25.5 An employee, who during the course of an emergency, volunteers their services to an emergency organisation, shall comply with subclauses (2), (3) and (4) of this clause.

6.17.5 An Employee who, during the course of an emergency, volunteers their services to an emergency organisation, shall comply with clauses6.17.2, 6.17.3and 6.17.4.
Emergency Services Leave. (a) If the Employee is a registered member of a volunteer Organisation and is called upon, the Employee will be released from normal duties without loss of salary or entitlements to participate in fire fighting, flood relief, or other declared emergency activity.
(b) Verification of the Employee's bona fide involvement in an emergency activity is required and should be in the form of a written statement from the relevant authority (eg. Country Fire Authority, State Emergency Service) which states the nature of the activity and period of service required of the Employee.

Emergency Services Leave. 15.13.1 It is Council policy to recognise and support the vital contribution that permanent employees who are members of Local Emergency Services organisations and to ensure they are not disadvantaged.
15.13.2 Council provides leave to active members for the purposes of providing volunteer support during periods of declared natural disasters and/or events declared under Section 44 of the Rural Fires Act within the Port ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ area.
15.13.3 Any employee seeking leave in accordance with this policy will submit a leave application form to their manager/supervisor. All applications must have supporting documentation, which shows they are required to fulfil service commitments.
15.13.4 Approval for such leave will be at the discretion of the General Manager or by delegated authority. Approval can be withheld if the employee’s absence will cause exceptional inconvenience or jeopardise the safety of other employees or members of the public.
15.13.5 The employee should advise the employer of his/her membership of any emergency services organisations, preferably at the time of employment. The employee should wherever possible seek approval to take leave before commencing leave. If proof of attendance at an emergency can be obtained, the employee should provide it to the employer.
15.13.6 The period of leave which is allowable will be at the employer’s discretion and will vary according to the circumstances of each case. In the case of a declared emergency, it should not continue past the date the declaration is revoked.
15.13.7 Employees required to take emergency services leave will be paid at the ordinary rate of pay. If an employee receives any payment from the emergency services authority, this amount is to be deducted from their usual wages and salary.
15.13.8 Employees required to assist in the fighting of fires or other activities deemed dangerous to their health may be required to provide Council with a medical certificate advising they are fit to resume duties prior to them returning to work.
15.13.9 An employee’s contract of service will continue uninterrupted during the leave period.
15.13.10 Emergency services leave will can not be taken during a period of annual or long service leave or rostered days off.
15.13.11 Council may elect to temporarily replace the employee for the period of leave, but the employee is entitled to his/her job back upon return from leave.
Emergency Services Leave. 39.2.1 Employees who are registered members of a volunteer organisation who wish to respond to a declared emergency situation may be released from their normal duties without loss of pay to participate in fire-fighting, flood relief or other emergency activity provided that:
(a) release for volunteer activity does not inconvenience the operations of the YMCA Workplace; and
Emergency Services Leave. (i) An employee, other than a casual, who engages in a ‘voluntary emergency management activity’ is entitled to paid emergency services leave.
(ii) For the purposes of this clause, an employee engages in a ‘voluntary emergency management activity’ if, and only if:
a) the employee engages in an activity that involves dealing with an emergency or natural disaster; and
b) the employee engages in the activity on a voluntary basis (Note: the activity is not on a voluntary basis if the employee receives remuneration from the recognised emergency management body for lost wages or salary); and
c) the employee is a member of, or has a member-like association with, a recognised emergency management body; and
d) either:
1. the employee was requested by or on behalf of the body to engage in the activity; or
2. no such request was made, but it would be reasonable to expect that, if the circumstances had permitted the making of such a request, it is likely that such a request would have been made.
(iii) For the purposes of this clause, a ‘recognised emergency management body’ is:
a) body, or part of a body, that has a role or function under a plan that:
1. is for coping with emergencies and/or disasters; and
2. is prepared by the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory; or
3. a fire-fighting, civil defence or rescue body, or part of such a body; or
b) any other body, or part of a body, a substantial purpose of which involves:
1. securing the safety of persons or animals in an emergency or natural disaster; or
2. protecting property in an emergency or natural disaster; or
3. otherwise responding to an emergency or natural disaster.
(iv) For the purposes of this clause, an ‘emergency’ means an event, actual or imminent, which endangers or threaten to endanger life, property or the environment and which requires a significant and coordinated response.
(v) Employees must notify their supervisor as soon as practicable and seek approval to access emergency services leave.
(vi) Employees must provide confirmation of their attendance (by a senior officer of the relevant emergency services body) to justify payment under this clause.
Emergency Services Leave. 44.1 Staff members will be entitled to leave to engage in voluntary emergency management activities in accordance with the Community Service Leave provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 (see Chapter 2, Part 2-2, Division 8 of the Act).
