COMPENSATORY TIME BALANCES. A. When employees accumulate compensatory time balances, the appointing authority will provide administrative procedures to assure the employee that such compensatory balances will not be taken away but will be scheduled as time off or alternatively paid in cash. B. Employee requests for use of compensatory time balances shall be honored. Priorities in honoring requests for use of compensatory time balances will be given to employees: 1. Where an emergency exists 2. Where scheduled one (1) month in advance 3. Where shorter notice of request is made Requests for use of such time under 2 and 3 will be honored except where emergency conditions exist or where the dates requested conflict with holiday or vacation schedules. C. Ordinarily, a maximum of eighty (80) hours of compensatory time may be carried by an employee. Where the balance exceeds eighty (80) hours, the employee and the supervisor will meet to amicably schedule such compensatory time off. D. 1. An employee may be required to take compensatory time off in keeping with the needs within the unit.
