Coordination with Maternity Leave. The Town provides employees a leave of absence for the period of temporary physical disability resulting from childbirth and related medical conditions. A maternity leave begins when an employee is medically determined to be disabled and ends when medically determined to be able to return to work and is paid in accordance with the provisions of the Town's Short Term Disability Plan. Maternity leave will be treated in the same manner as type d. FMLA leave of absence. However, maternity leaves are not limited by any measure other than the period of medical disability. An employee who uses less than the Available Leave Weeks for type d. leave for maternity may take additional type a. FMLA leave after the end of the disability period for a period not to exceed the Available Leave Weeks.
