Employees may apply for up to six (6) credits during period 1 after June 30th and prior to October 1st. Employees may apply for up to six (6) during period 2 starting December 1st. The disbursement of funds in period 1 shall not exceed half of the yearly agreed upon amount. Any sums not used during period 1 shall be rolled into period 2. Anyone applying during period 1 who has met the period 1 deadline will have their application considered. If the total of the requests is more than the designated monetary amount, then a lottery system will ensue to determine which applications receive the money. Those whose applications were not selected in period 1 will be eligible to submit again during period 2. If the total of the requests for period 2 is more than the designated monetary amount, then a lottery system will ensue to determine which applications receive the money. The disbursement in period 2 shall not exceed the total agreed upon amount. Applications for reimbursement in period 2 may not have received any previous reimbursement during period 1 unless there are unexpended funds in period 2. Course Reimbursement. 1. (a) Teachers will who elect to take, and who successfully complete, graduate (post-college) level courses with a grade of B or better, or its equivalent shall be eligible for reimbursement reimbursed at the rate of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) each per course except at a rate of three hundred dollars ($300.00) each per course for courses that will enhance in the Teacher’s ability to improve student academic performance. 2. To be eligible for reimbursementareas of Speech and Hearing, courses must Teachers of the Deaf, Industrial Arts, Special Education, Computer Science, Data- Processing, Math, Science, Bi-Lingual (only in the areas where the City provides Bi- Lingual instruction), Allied Health, Culinary Arts and others which might be approved in advance by the Professional Growth Committee Board, for the tuition cost of such course or courses up to a maximum of three (employing 3) courses in any given school year provided that the program of staff development mandated by the state as an integral part of the Teacher’s recertification process) teacher has attained, prior to taking the course; advance course(s), at least the MA level as listed in Article 25, Section 1, and the Salary Schedules in Appendix A and provided that the teacher has the prior approval from of the Superintendent to take, and receive reimbursement for, a course or courses. A teacher may not use any course for which he or she has requested and received reimbursement to attain advancement to a higher salary column as described in Article 25, Section 1, and the Salary Schedules in Appendix A. Courses completed after July 1, in any given year, shall be counted as having been taken during the next school year. However, with regard to courses taken in the Spring semester (from January-May) or the Summer semester (May-June 30) teachers may apply for reimbursement the following school year but said course is credited to the prior school year for purposes of Schools determining the number of courses. This shall not affect the course reimbursement for that current school year. The maximum a person may collect at a given time is required. 3nine hundred dollars ($900.00). Upon The reimbursement payment prescribed herein shall be paid not prior to the first week of July immediately subsequent to the date of the successful completion of the said graduate level course. In order to provide for equitable distribution of funds, money for reimbursement will be set aside when the Superintendent approves the courses to be taken. The District will provide payment for approved courses when presented with a purchase order from the offering institution with the understanding that the employee requesting this prepayment option must also execute a salary reduction agreement at the time of the request for course approval and provide evidence of a passing grade within thirty (30) days of the completion of the course either in the form of a transcript or a letter on the school’s stationary. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in the implementation of the salary reduction agreement. In no case can this be later than June 15th so that accounts can be closed out for the fiscal year. Course Reimbursement. The Board will support appropriate graduate and undergraduate college training for certified personnel to the extent of paying the highest New Jersey State College rate. If the Superintendent approves a course to be taken through East Stroudsburg University, reimbursement shall be made at the East Stroudsburg University rate. The credit limit shall be 12 credits per year for each certified staff member. Payment, by the Board, shall not exceed the per credit cost paid by the certified staff member. The maximum expenditure for the 2004-2007 school years shall be limited to and capped at $65,000. During the 2006-2007 school year no monies shall be paid to any certified personnel taking courses hereunder, until, at the latest, the end of the school year, at which time whatever monies are available would be distributed on a pro-rated per credit basis among all who have taken courses. (In the 2006-2007 year, the Administration, Board, and Association may review and mutually agree to distribute these monies at an earlier date.) If a course begins prior to July 1 of any given year, payment will be made at the successful completion of the course, providing the maximum contracted amount has not been exceeded, and providing it is not the last year of the contract. Teachers will be eligible for reimbursement for courses that will enhance the Teacher’s ability to improve student academic performance. 2. Course Reimbursement. 1Teachers taking approved graduate level courses will be reimbursed by the district or may request a purchase order from the district for fees and tuition up to a maximum of twelve credits per year at the actual UNH graduate level credit hour cost. Course Reimbursement. In order to encourage excellence and professional competence the Board shall reimburse any certificated teacher and non-certificated secretary for courses which have been approved by the Superintendent of Schools, subject to the following conditions: 1. Course Reimbursement. 1a. Any teacher who is a member of the Association may be entitled to tuition reimbursement. Teachers A teacher with less than one year of service with the District may be denied tuition assistance on that basis. If the Teacher fails to fulfill the requirements of the advanced payment plan, the Teacher agrees that the District will withhold any balance due the District from the last paycheck under the Teacher's contract.

Course Reimbursement. 1The district shall reimburse teachers who are in a degree program an amount not to exceed the current credit hour cost of the University of New Hampshire, and in no instance more than the actual cost involved, up to the maximum of eight (8) credit hours in any one school year for any approved course which is taken by a teacher in a degree program in this school system. Teachers in a non-degree program will be reimbursed the amount not to exceed the current credit hour cost of the University of New Hampshire, and in no instance more than the actual cost involved, up to the maximum of four (4) credit hours in any one school year. Approved courses shall be interpreted to mean that the superintendent of schools has determined that the course has a meaningful application to the position held by the teacher. If a surplus of funds is remaining at the end of December, applications for additional course work, to be completed by June 1st, beyond the allowed 4 or 8 credit hours will be accepted on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. To qualify for reimbursement, a teacher must take each course for a grade unless it is only offered on a pass/fail basis. Teachers will be eligible paid for reimbursement for approved courses: X.
