Coverage for Surviving Dependents. Consistent with the Federal Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986 (COBRA), any County employee who is covered by County-offered health insurance and who dies while employed, whether in paid or unpaid status, their surviving dependents shall be allowed to retain their dependents' coverage, provided that the dependents elect COBRA coverage and pay their applicable premiums by the due date.
