Dependents definition

Dependents means dependents as defined in the Internal Revenue Code and as claimed in the taxpayer's federal income tax return for the taxable year or which the taxpayer would have been permitted to claim had the taxpayer filed a federal income tax return.

Dependents means one of the following:

Dependents as of any date, means the members of the Executive's family who under the eligibility rules (as in effect on a date that is six months prior to the Operative Date) of the plans or programs of the Company (or any successor) which provide medical benefits, would, by virtue of such status as family members, be eligible for benefits under such plans or programs on such date.

Upon reaching the limiting age, the child is eligible for extended coverage as a dependent if the child continues to be both (1) incapable of sustaining employment by reason of mental retardation or physical handicap, and (2) chiefly dependent upon the Subscriber for support and maintenance. Children include natural children, newborn children, stepchildren, adopted and adopted newborn children.
