Health Insurance Benefit. The Board shall pay, in addition to salary, a fringe benefit for teachers. The Board agrees to pay the cost of the lowest tier single plan of the district provided health insurance to be applied towards a district health insurance plan. Said benefit will not exceed $500.00 per month. The plan will cover all certified/licensed teachers employed at least .5 FTE Certified/licensed teachers who began employment prior to August 11, 1998, and choose not to enroll in the district’s health insurance plan, will receive a benefit of $64 per month as cash. This is a fixed cash amount; it shall not increase even if the Board’s contribution to the insurance plan increases. Teachers hired after August 11, 1998, must use their benefit for the purpose of purchasing the district’s health insurance plan. New employees who do not wish to purchase the health insurance plan will forfeit the benefit amount. Should those who choose the cash option later decide to join the district’s health plan, they shall forfeit the cash since it will be applied to the insurance plan. Furthermore, this is a one-way decision, in that a person moving from a cash option to an insurance fringe cannot later go back to the cash option.

The Board of Education shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of the annual premium, less the FBA contribution, toward each teacher’s individual health insurance premium in the District’s designated health insurance program for those teachers who work six (6) hours or more daily.

Effective Date of Coverage The effective date of coverage for new employee members in the health, dental, and vision insurance plans provided employees shall be the first day of the first bi-weekly pay period next following the date of appointment to employment as a contract employee, who, by such contract, is eligible for the stated insurance coverage. Health Insurance Options The County shall provide an option for health insurance coverage for eligible employees and dependents in one of three plans. The three plans shall be: (1) a Kaiser Plan; (2) a Select Plan; and (3) a Premier Plan. Health plans offered to employees may be either self-funded by the County or fully-insured. If any plan is self-funded, a plan document shall be adopted by the Board of Supervisors. All health and health-related plan or benefit years shall coincide with the fiscal year. Health Insurance Premiums Effective the first full pay period in January 2013, the County will contribute 80% of the employee-only premium for Select and Kaiser and the employee shall pay 20% of premium. For employees electing the Premier Plan, the County shall contribute at the same coverage level as the Select Plan County contribution and the employee shall pay the difference between the County contribution and the full rate of the Premier Plan. The County will contribute 80% of the dependent premium (employee plus one, and employee plus family) for Select and Kaiser and the employee shall pay 20% of the premium. For employees electing the Premier plan, the County shall contribute at the same level as the Select plan County contribution and the employees shall pay the difference between the County contribution and the full rate of the Premier plan at each coverage level. For any new plan options, the County will pay 80% of the premium and the employee shall pay 20% of the premium for employees electing the PPO or HMO plan at all tier levels (employee only, employee plus one, employee plus family). If an expanded PPO plan is implemented, the County shall contribute at the same coverage level as the PPO plan County contribution and the employee shall pay the difference between the County contribution and the full rate of the expanded PPO. Health Insurance Benefit. Since the CEO is a retired Marine Corps Infantry Officer and currently receives full medical benefits for himself, the CEO declines all Health Insurance offered by ILTexas.

June 2011) OTHER BENEFITS: FICA (SOCIAL SECURITY/MEDICARE). The teacher will pay 7.65% of his/her current contracted salary toward Social Security/Medicare Tax (FICA) and the School District will pay a matching 7.65% of the teachers’ salary to FICA. TFFR – The following rates will go into effect July 1, 2014 for Teacher’s Fund for Retirement. Employer contribution rates increase from 10.75% to 12.75%. Member contribution rates increase from 9.75% to 11.75%. Killdeer School District will pay 7.75% of the member contribution; member will pay 4%. (N.A. April 2014) Prior to 2012-2013, School District paid full Teacher’s Retirement in lieu of salary raise for both curricular and extra-curricular compensation.
