Common use of Critical Illness Clause in Contracts

Critical Illness. 1. A teacher shall be granted up to five (5) days leave of absence with pay in one school year in the case of critical illness or condition which poses a serious threat to the life of a member of the teacher’s immediate family: the spouse (including common-law and same-sex partners), child and step-child (including in-law), parent (including in-law), guardian, sibling and step-siblings (including in-law), grandchild or grandparent of an employee (including in- law). The Board may require that such illness or condition be certified by the attending physician.
