Day Worker Changing to Shift Work. Where a day worker commences shiftwork at the instructions of the Company without seven days notice except as provided for in Clause 27 (a) herein (or the reduced period of 48 hours notice where the transfer to shift work is necessitated by absenteeism) the Company shall pay time and one half rates for all ordinary time worked until such required notice would have expired. Such extra rate shall be in substitution for the shift allowance.

Where Except in a case arising from another employee's absence from work or as a consequence of a breakdown in machinery, a day worker who commences shiftwork shift work at the instructions instruction of the Company without seven days notice except as provided for in Clause 27 (a) herein (or the reduced period of 48 forty-eight hours notice where the transfer to shift work is necessitated by absenteeism) the Company employee shall pay be paid time and one half rates of the Weekly Base Rate for all ordinary time worked until such required notice would have expired. Such extra rate shall be in substitution for the shift allowance.
