GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. Section 18-1. Employment begins and ends at each project site.
Section 18-2. The selection of craft foremen and/or general foremen and the number of foremen required shall be entirely the responsibility of the Employer, it being understood that in the selection of such foremen and/or general foremen the Employer will give primary consideration to the qualified individuals available in the local area. After giving such consideration, the Employer may select such individuals from other areas. All foremen shall take orders from the designated Employer representatives. Craft foremen shall be designated working foremen at the request of the Employer.
Section 18-3. There shall be no limit on production by employees nor restrictions on the full use of tools or equipment. Employees using tools shall perform any of the work of the trade and shall work under the direction of the craft foremen. There shall be no restrictions on efficient use of manpower other than as may be required by safety regulations.
Section 18-4. Employees shall be at their place of work at the starting time and shall remain at their place of work performing their assigned functions under the supervision of the Employer until quitting time. The parties reaffirm their policy of a fair day’s work for a fair day’s wage.
Section 18-5. All equipment assigned to a project shall be under the control of the Employer. The Employer shall have the right to determine how many pieces of equipment an individual employee shall operate. In an emergency, foremen shall operate any equipment assigned by the Employer, and there shall be no restriction on foremen in the use of the tools of his or her craft in such emergency. The foremen shall be from the craft normally operating the equipment. In accordance with currently recognized craft jurisdiction, the Employer shall determine the assignment of employees to start, stop, and maintain small portable construction equipment. Such work may be assigned to craft employees within a reasonable distance of their primary duties or an employee may be assigned full time to start, stop and maintain the Employer’s small, portable equipment on the job site. There shall be no over xxxxxxx of this type of equipment. The number of employees assigned to rigging and scaffolding operations shall be at the sole discretion of the Employer. The ratio of journeyperson to welders shall be determined solely by the Employer.

GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. The District has empowered school communities to make decisions at the school level in return for accountability for results. To maximize the likelihood of success, each school must be permitted to implement programs that meet the needs of its students and community. Through a school-based decision-making process, each school will define the staff working conditions necessary for student success. School leadership teams will create and publish annual “school operational plans” which will outline working conditions of staff in the building. Such operational plans will be subject to the Superintendent’s review and approval.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. 15:01 When an Employee is required to work in the rain, wet weather gear shall be supplied. If it is not returned, the Employee may be charged with replacement costs.
15:02 The Employer agrees to furnish suitable drinking water at convenient locations at the jobsite. Heated lunchrooms shall be provided and heated shelter provided for the repair and maintenance of equipment. The Employer will provide suitable enclosed sanitary facilities, heated in cold weather where practical. Employees will co-operate with the Employer in keeping these facilities clean.
15:03 The Employer shall make and revise such safety and other project rules and regulations as may be consistent with company policy and/or Federal or Provincial legislation or regulations, and failure by the Employee shall be cause of immediate dismissal, provided that the said company rules and regulations are not in contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of the Province of Saskatchewan, or other mutually recognized safety regulations.
15:04 All equipment equipped with cabs shall be adequately heated in cold weather. In all circumstances Employees shall be protected against excessive heat, cold and noise. No Employee shall be disciplined for refusing to work under unsafe conditions or in contravention of established safety rules and regulations.
15:05 The Employer shall provide bulletin boards for the convenience of the Union in posting notices of Union activity. All such notices must be signed by the proper officer of the Union and submitted to the management for their approval.
15:06 Regular Operating Engineers will not be required to operate more than three (3) pieces of equipment in any one shift. However, special circumstances, such as breakdowns or absentee operators, may dictate further utilization of available manpower.
15:07 Original requests for manpower will be limited to three (3) pieces of equipment for one person.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. 10:01 General working conditions shall be as stated at the pre-job conference.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. Section 1: Accidents. Employees shall immediately report to the Employer all accidents, together with the names and addresses of all witnesses to the accidents. Upon written request, Employer shall furnish the Union concerned with a report of each lost time accident involving a member of that Union on a form to be agreed upon.
Section 2: Street/highway safety. Employer shall not require Employees to take out on the street or highways any vehicles not equipped with the safety appliances prescribed by law, or any vehicle that is not in a safe operating condition.
Section 3: Equipment defects. Employees shall immediately report to the Employer all equipment defects. If an occasion arises that an Employee reports defective equipment to Employer and receives no satisfaction, he shall report the matter to the officers of his Union who shall in turn consult with Employer.
Section 4: Xxxxxxx equipment. Employer shall man his equipment at all times with a sufficient number of men to properly handle the load. There shall be no limit on production by workmen or restrictions on the full use of tools and equipment. There shall be no restrictions other than may be required by safety regulations on the number of men assigned to any crew or to any service except as otherwise provided for in this Agreement.
Section 5: Safety & sanitary regulations. Employer shall comply with all of the safety and sanitary regulations specified by the laws of the United States of America and the State of West Virginia. Required safety equipment shall be furnished by the Employer. If after analysis by a recognized testing laboratory, materials used in construction are found to be injurious to health and safety to Employees, the Contractor will correct the situation through reasonable protective measures or substitution of other materials.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. 15.01 All apprentices must work under the supervision of a journeyman.
15.02 The employer will permit a refreshment break at the employee’s place of work once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The time will be scheduled by the employer so as not to interfere with the orderly progress of the job and shall not exceed ten (10) minutes.
15.03 A tool lock-up shall be provided by the employer on all jobs, sufficient to hold all employees’ tools. An employer failing to provide a satisfactory lock-up for tools of the members shall be held financially responsible for their replacement in the event of theft.
15.04 Sanitary drinking facilities shall be provided by the em- ployer.
15.05 Whenever any employee is directed by the employer to report to any project to work, and the job is not ready through causes over which the employee has no control, and if the em- ployer has no other work for the employee on that day, then such employee shall be paid as reporting time, two (2) hours for the day and shall stay at the job for two (2) hours for which they are being paid.
(a) The Union agrees that if any Union member is found to work on a piece-work basis “in the I.C.I., Construction sector,” the member will be fined to the maximum penal- ty provided for, in the Union Constitution and the Trade By-Laws.
(b) Should the Employer be found, by the Labour Board or an Arbitrator, to have used pieceworkers “in the I.C.I. Construction sector,” the Employer will pay the correct ICI wages to the member and the correct benefits to the Union and also pay liquidated damages to the Union in the amount of $2000.00 for each month worked for each pieceworker used in the ICI sector.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. 14:01 It shall be the responsibility of the Employer to supply heated lunch rooms and clean rest rooms on the job sites subject to prevailing conditions and joint responsibility.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. 15:01 The Employer shall provide clean, ventilated and thermally comfortable lunch rooms with benches and tables with adequate size and seating capacity to accommodate the number of people using the facility. Areas required for eating and changing shall be kept free of tools and equipment.
15:02 Individual, separate, safe, and locked storage shall be provided for cement masons'/plasterers' tools and work clothing.
15:03 Fresh drinking water in closed containers and individual paper cups shall be provided daily on all jobs.
15:04 The Employer shall provide suitable clean, enclosed, sanitary facilities, chemical or flush, heated in cold weather. The Cement Masons/Plasters shall cooperate with the Employer in keeping these facilities clean. The Employer shall supply suitable dry type hand cleaner and towelling.
15:05 Suitable rain gear and protective clothing and equipment shall be provided by the Employer when safety, weather, or working conditions dictate their use or when required by the Employer.
15:06 All Cement Xxxxx/Plasters and Apprentices shall bring to work every day appropriate hand tools of the trade and be responsible for their safe keeping.
15:07 Where site development permits, the Employer shall provide the Cement Masons/Plasterers with adequate car parking facilities including plug ins in cold weather.
15:08 The Union will be supplied with a photocopy of the Employee's Record of Employment, forthwith upon termination of employment.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS a) Employees injured on the job will be paid for the full day. When death occurs to a member of an employee's immediate family, the employee will be granted upon request, an appropriate leave of absence, and if he attends the funeral he shall be compensated at his regular straight time hourly rate, for hours lost from his regular schedule on any of the days prior to the funeral, the day of the funeral, and the day after the funeral, for a maximum of three (3) days. Members of the employee's family are defined as the employee's spouse, mother, father, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandfather, grandmother, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. or will be recognized provided such or had the status of the employee's father or mother.
GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS. A. Parking space sufficient to accommodate the vehicles driven to work by employees shall be provided within a reasonable proximity of the building or premises at which the employees are working.
B. Employees shall be permitted to make local telephone calls on school telephones designated by the employer in the building at which they are working, during breaks and non-working time, except that in the case of a personal emergency involving the health or safety of the employee's family, the employee shall be permitted reasonable time to make an immediate call. All toll calls or long distance calls shall be at the expense of the employee charged to a home telephone number.
C. The employer shall provide specific written procedures for employees to follow in administering any medications to students or employees. Such procedures shall be in compliance with all applicable laws of the State of Michigan with regard thereof.
D. Employees shall not be required to maintain or clean the personal property of other school employees.
E. When the immediate supervisor is to be absent, the employee shall be informed as to the name of the person that the employee is to contact in the event of an emergency situation.
F. Any employee desiring to resign from his/her position shall file a letter of resignation with the Superintendent of Schools at least ten (10) working days prior to the effective date of such resignation. Any employee who resigns from his/her position in the manner herein described shall maintain his/her rights to any benefits which are payable upon separation, and all insurance premiums which are paid by the Board shall terminate as of the employee's resignation date.
G. On work days when students are in attendance for instruction, and the building in which the office management, technology and/or food & nutrition employees are assigned is without heat or water such that the students are released from classes early:
1. Office management and technology employees in the respective school building will be released for the remainder of their scheduled work day, without loss of pay, following the release of the students when there is reasonable assurance that the students' transportation needs have been met, or be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) times their regular rate of pay for all time worked the remainder of their work shift from that point in time; and
