DEPARTMENT SENIORITY DEFINED. Department seniority shall be defined as the sum total of paid service in a safety classification for the Department without regard to whether such service was continuous, full-time, less than full-time, tenured, probationary, provisional, temporary or emergency. Employees who have entered or enter the Department through contract-for-service (consolidation) shall have their total paid service time in a safety classification from the consolidating agency included for the purposes of determining total Department seniority.
