Deputy Chief. The aggrieved Employee shall submit a written grievance to his Deputy Chief within twenty-one (21) calendar days. The written grievance at this step and at all steps hereafter shall contain the following information: A. A statement of the grievance and the facts upon which it is based; B. The alleged violation; C. The remedy or adjustments sought; and D. The signature of the aggrieved Employee. The Deputy Chief shall investigate and respond in writing to this grievance within twenty-one (21) calendar days of its receipt. The written response at this step and Management's response in all steps hereafter shall contain the following information: A. An affirmation or denial of the facts upon which the grievance was based; B. The remedy or adjustment, if any, to be made; and C. The signature of the appropriate Management representative. A grievance not answered in Step 1 within twenty-one (21) calendar days of receipt shall be advanced to the next step; exclusive of holidays, of the date on which the respective time limit expired.
