DUCT WORK. 8.1 Foil-faced fiberglass blanket with vapor barrier.
8.1.1 Before wrapping the flexible blanket insulation, cut out and remove two inches of insulation at the butt and lateral ends of the flexible blanket. The two-inch laps will serve as vapor barrier flaps at all joints. All insulation will be wrapped tightly and neatly to all surfaces with all joints butted accurately. A completely sealed vapor barrier envelope must be provided.
8.1.2 Joints of the insulation will be lapped, sealed and taped with the proper sealer to provide a completely sealed vapor barrier envelope. The tape will be applied in a straight line with equal overlap on both sides of the joint. All punctures and voids must be properly insulated and sealed.
8.1.3 If a self-sealing tape is used, it shall be rubbed until it is free of air pockets or openings.
8.1.4 No raw glass shall be visible.

All installations shall conform to prevailing code requirement in term of gauge of metal and fire damper. Contractor shall be responsible for resealing and insulating duct work as necessary to meet code.
DUCT WORK. Unless the approved drawings provide otherwise, in buildings with a pressurized ceiling supply system, a ducted supply and return air system shall be installed. The return air duct shall connect to the return air shaft. The duct work shall be no less than 22 gauge metal and maximum allowable length of flex duct from the diffuser to the metal duct shall be 10 feet. In buildings with pressurized ceiling supply systems, drywall shall be installed slab to slab to isolate the duct system from the original paper barrier system. The integrity of the remaining paper barrier system shall be maintained.
