Dues Deduction - Fair Share. Section 1. On the first pay period of each month, the DHS shall deduct from the wages of employees in the bargaining unit who are members of the Union, and who have requested such deductions pursuant to ORS 292.055, a sum equal to Union dues. This deduction shall begin on the first payroll period following such authorization and shall continue from month to month for the life of this Agreement. Section 2. Any employee who is a member of a church or religious body having bona fide religious tenets or teachings which prohibit association with a labor organization, or the payment of dues to it, shall pay an amount of money equivalent to regular Union dues to a non-religious charity, or to another charitable organization mutually agreed upon by the employee affected and the Union. The employee shall furnish written proof to the DHS that this has been done. Notwithstanding an employee's claim of exemption under this Section, the DHS shall deduct payments in lieu of dues from the employee's wages pursuant to this Section, until agreement has been reached between the employee and the Union. GEs who are Union members and who, for any reason, temporarily discontinue their status as a GE with the University shall, upon their return to University employment as a GE, be reinstated as members of the GE Union following notice provided by the Union to the University. Section 7. The Union and the University agree that the rights of non-association of any employee based on bona fide religious objections shall be protected in accordance with applicable state law. Section 8. The University shall remit in the month following the deduction the aggregate deduction of Fair Share fees in-lieu-of-dues amounts, together with a listing identifying the employees from for whom the deductions are made. Section 39. Dues and payments The Union agrees to accept listings referenced in lieu of dues for employees working less than twenty (20) hours or less per week will be on this Article in a prorated basis as outlined by Union policy. During Should the life of this Agreement, the Union will notify the DHS monthly of individuals who have become members of the Union and to whom the Fair Share provisions of this Section will not thereafter apply. Section 5. Any employee who is a member of a church or religious body having bona fide religious tenets or teachings which prohibit association with a labor organization, or the payment of dues to it, shall pay an amount of money equivalent to regular Union dues University encounter additional costs attributable to a non-religious charitychange in structural reprogramming, or to another charitable organization mutually agreed upon that expense shall be borne equally by the employee affected University and the Union. The employee shall furnish written proof to Such changes may only be requested once during the DHS that this has been done. Notwithstanding an employee's claim of exemption under this Section, the DHS shall deduct payments in lieu of dues from the employee's wages pursuant to this Section, until agreement has been reached between the employee and the Unioncontract period. Section 610. The Union shall provide indemnify and hold the DHS’s Payroll Office University harmless from all actions taken by the University in compliance with the Union application/authorization forms. The DHS shall supply said applications to prospective members, and shall process completed applications, forwarding the original to the Union immediately upon receiptthis Article.
