Education as a fertile functioning. Xxxxx and xx-Xxxxxx introduce the notion of ‘fertile functionings’ to refer to the way that ‘doing well in one functioning…will lead to improvements in other functionings’ (2007, p.133-134). For example, finding employment will lead to further opportunities for affiliation. The opposite of this is what Xxxxx and xx-Xxxxxx term ‘corrosive disadvantage’, where ‘disadvantage in one functioning leads to disadvantages in others’ (p.133). For example, losing one’s job might reduce opportunities for affiliation. These two notions are useful for thinking about how individual capabilities and functionings are dependent upon each other in complex ways, and which it can be argued ‘enhance the theoretical apparatus of the Capabilities Approach’ (Xxxxxxxx 2011, p.42-43) by taking us closer to what Xxx has in mind, writing: even though it is often convenient to talk about individual capabilities…it is important to bear in mind that the capability approach is ultimately concerned with the ability to achieve combinations of valued functionings…we have to see the person’s overall capability in terms of combined achievements that are open to them (Sen 2009, p.233 ff). Xxxxxxxx has suggested that ‘education plays a fertile role, opening up options of many kinds across the board’ (2011, p.42-44). A good education will create opportunities for employment and economic security, for different forms of affiliation and the use of practical reason. The ways in which education can serve as a fertile functioning by enriching different aspects of life is discussed in Chapter 5, where the discussion explores how the post-16 setting acts as a site for identity development. Here, a case is made for recognising that post-16 education promotes a cluster of capabilities including self-knowledge, social esteem, organisational abilities, aspirations, and the development of moral standpoints.

  • Outpatient Dental Anesthesia Services This plan covers anesthesia services received in connection with a dental service when provided in a hospital or freestanding ambulatory surgical center and: • the use of this is medically necessary; and • the setting in which the service is received is determined to be appropriate. This plan also covers facility fees associated with these services.

  • Anesthesia Services This plan covers general and local anesthesia services received from an anesthesiologist when the surgical procedure is a covered healthcare service. Providing consultation concerning replacement of any Work damaged by fire or other cause during construction, and furnishing services as may be required in connection with the replacement of such Work. Providing services made necessary by the default of the Contractor, or by major defects or deficiencies in the Work of the Contractor, or by failure of performance of the Contractor under the Contract for Construction. Providing extensive assistance in the utilization of any equipment or system such as initial start-up or testing, adjusting and balancing, preparation of operation and maintenance manuals, training personnel for operation and maintenance, and consultation during operation. Providing services after the expiration of sixty (60) days following final payment to the Contractor, excluding any services necessary during the warranty period inspections and provided that all of Project Architect’s services as required under this Agreement have been satisfactorily completed. Preparing to serve or serving as an expert witness at the request of the Owner in connection with any public hearing, arbitration proceeding or legal proceeding. Providing any other services not otherwise customarily furnished in accordance with generally accepted architectural practice.

  • Non-Medical, Personalized Services PRACTICE shall also provide Patient with the following non-medical services (“Non-Medical Services”), which are complementary to our members in the course of care:

  • Education - Asthma This plan covers asthma education services when the services are prescribed by a physician and performed by a certified asthma educator.

  • Career Services Placement assistance is not provided. It is understood that the School does not and cannot promise or guarantee neither employment nor level of income or wage rate to any Student or Graduate.

  • Hosted Services We shall use commercially reasonable efforts to make the Hosted Services you have purchased available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except for: (a) planned downtime under our direct control (of which we shall give at least 8 hours notice via the Hosted Services and which we shall schedule to the extent practicable during the weekend hours from 6:00 p.m. Pacific time Friday to 3:00 a.m. Pacific time Monday), (b) to the extent we are notified by third party service providers of planned downtime (of which we shall provide such notice to you via the Hosted services as soon we can reasonably do so), or (c) any unavailability caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including, without limitation, acts of God, acts of government, flood, fire, earthquakes, civil unrest, acts of terror, strikes or other labor problems, internet service or third party hosting provider failures or delays ("Force Majeure").   • Operations Support Systems Functions CBT shall provide CLEC, upon CLEC's request, nondiscriminatory access to CBT's Operations Support Systems functions for pre-ordering, ordering, provisioning, maintenance and repair and billing, in accordance with the terms and schedules established in the Commission’s Arbitration Award in Case No. 97-152-TP-ARB, August 14, 1997 (“Arbitration Award”). CBT shall provide CLEC advance written notice of any material changes to CBT operating support systems functions.

  • Pharmacy Services The Contractor shall establish a network of pharmacies. The Contractor or its PBM must provide at least two (2) pharmacy providers within thirty (30) miles or thirty (30) minutes from a member’s residence in each county, as well as at least two (2) durable medical equipment providers in each county or contiguous county.
