Educational experiences. 6.1 Perceptions of professors Students rated their level of agreement with a series of statements about their professors. Most students report having had positive experiences with university faculty. At the high end, more than 9 in 10 graduating students agree with the following: ► Most of my professors seem knowledgeable in their fields (43% strongly agree) ► Most of my professors treat students the same regardless of race (59% strongly agree) ► Most of my professors treat students the same regardless of gender (58% strongly agree) ► Most of my professors are reasonably accessible outside of class (23% strongly agree) ► Most of my professors encourage students to participate in class discussions (31% strongly agree) At the lower end, about 7 in 10 graduating students agree with the following: ► Most of my professors provide useful feedback on my academic work (13% strongly agree) ► Most of my professors take a personal interest in my academic progress (14% strongly agree) ► Most of my professors provide prompt feedback on my academic work (11% strongly agree) Generally, students indicate similar experiences with professors across groups, with the exception of the three lowest rate aspects. For these three, Group 1 students are more likely to agree with each statement than Group 2 or Group 3 students.
