Common use of Election Day Leave Clause in Contracts

Election Day Leave. Employees shall be entitled to three (3) consecutive hours off for the purpose of voting in any provincial or municipal election or referendum, unless otherwise amended by statute. Employees shall be entitled to four (4) consecutive hours off for the purpose of voting in any federal election or referendum, unless otherwise amended by statute. If the normal hours of employment do not permit this, such additional time shall be given at the convenience of the Corporation as may be necessary to provide such hours while the polls are open. The employees shall suffer no loss of pay for such absence.
