Common use of Elementary Compensation for Class Coverage Clause in Contracts

Elementary Compensation for Class Coverage. When a substitute has not been secured, each building will determine how to best provide coverage in accordance with article 9-1-4 building class coverage plan. Elementary teachers shall be compensated at the current daily rate of pay for a substitute teacher with a 3 year substitute authorization ($125), in addition to their daily rate of pay, which shall be shared fairly among the teachers in the building who provide the coverage when absorbing students. Teachers whose assignment is changed to cover a class will be absolved of their regular duties and compensated, in addition to their daily rate of pay, $55 for a full day of coverage, $27.50 for partial day coverage, and this rate shall increase proportionally with any future increases in district substitute pay. If coverage is provided by a teacher during her plan time, the class coverage rate in Appendix C will apply. This compensation is to be paid in the event of needed coverage for teacher absences and not in the event of position vacancies.

Teachers whose assignment is changed to cover a covering class in lieu of regularly assigned duties will be absolved of their regular duties and compensated, in addition to their daily rate of pay, $55 46 $40 for a full day of coverage, $27.50 23 $40 for partial day coverage, and this rate shall increase proportionally with any future increases in district substitute pay. If coverage is provided by a teacher during her plan time, the class coverage rate in Appendix C will apply.
