Common use of Emergency Closing of Courthouse, Social Services, and Other Departments Clause in Contracts

Emergency Closing of Courthouse, Social Services, and Other Departments. (a) Closing Prior to Start of Shift. In the event it becomes necessary to close the Courthouse, Social Services or any other department, due to an emergency situation beyond the control of management, the County Executive or his designee will make every reasonable effort to notify employees through the media at least one hour prior to the beginning of the shift of the closing of County offices, in which case employees will not be paid for the duration of the closing. (b) Closing After Start of Shift. In the event it becomes necessary to close the Courthouse, Social Services, or other departments during the course of the normal business day, due to an emergency situation beyond the control of management, affected employees will be noti- fied of the closing as soon as practically possible and employees affected by the closing shall be paid for the first half of their shift if they are sent home during the first half of their shift and shall be paid for the entire day if sent home at any time during the second half of their shift.
