Common use of Emergency Housing Clause in Contracts

Emergency Housing. Emergency housing is a short-term housing situation (90 days or less) that offers immediate shelter when no suitable shelter bed is available. These emergency housing situations are typically in hotels, motels, transitional housing projects, or recovery residences but other situations may be approved on a case-by-case basis. Housing search support must be provided by the grantee while a participant is placed in an emergency housing situation. Emergency housing situations do not require a lease, habitability, or lead-based paint inspections. Participants are not required to pay rent while in emergency housing situations. HMIS data entry is required for participants served in emergency housing. * A suitable shelter bed is one that meets the emergency housing needs of the participant, is rooted in participant choice, and does not cause undue hardship to the participant.
