Common use of Employee/Child/Family Illness Clause in Contracts

Employee/Child/Family Illness. Sick leave with pay shall be allowed by the School District whenever an employee’s absence is found to have been due to the illness or injury of the employee, which has prevented his/her attendance at school and performance of duties on that day or days. In addition, sick leave with pay shall be allowed for reasonable periods whenever the absence of an employee (as defined in Minnesota Statutes section 181.940, subdivision 2, as amended) is found to have been due to the illness or injury of an individual listed in Minnesota Statutes section 181.9413(a), as amended. Absences related to the illness or injury of the employee or the employee’s child (as defined in Minnesota Statutes sections 181.940, subdivision 4, and 181.9413(e), as amended) will be paid to the limit of the employee’s accumulated sick leave. Absences related to any of the other individuals listed in Minnesota Statutes section 181.9413(a), as amended, will be paid to a limit of 160 hours in any 12-month period. Subd. 4. Up to a maximum limit of thirty (30) days, no deduction shall be made from sick leave for injuries caused by assault while the principal, acting in a professional manner, is in the course and scope of employment.
