Employee Health and Safety. A. When the university requires an employee to use or wear health or safety equipment, such equipment will be provided by the university. B. Employees shall perform their duties in a safe manner and shall comply with the university’s safety guidelines/procedures. Any employee becoming aware of a work-related accident shall immediately notify the supervisor or the supervisor’s designee of the area where the incident occurred. C. When an employee believes an unsafe or unhealthy working condition exists in the work area, the employee shall immediately report the condition to the employee’s supervisor. An employee may also report the condition to a university administrator at the next highest level or the university’s Director of Environmental Health and Safety. The university shall investigate the report, and will respond to the employee in a timely manner. Where the employee’s report was in writing, the response shall be in writing. An employee acting in good faith may refuse to accept an assignment when the employee has reasonable grounds to believe an unsafe or unhealthy working condition exists in the work area which poses an immediate threat to the employee’s physical being. D. The university will endeavor to keep its equipment in reasonable operating condition.
