Equipment Lift. Full PPE and SCBA (without face piece) shall be worn. • A 14-foot, 20-foot, or 24-foot ladder shall be raised to a suitable roof of a building. • A firefighter shall ascend the ladder to the roof of the building while carrying an ax and pike pole. • The ax and pike pole shall be placed on the roof and the firefighter shall then descend the ladder to ground level. • The firefighter shall then bring a power saw to the roof of the building either by carrying it in hand or by the use of a sling. • The process shall then be performed in reverse order to return the power saw, ax, and pike pole to ground level.

Equipment Lift. On the roof of the fire station, the Fire Fighter will stand asymmetrical with one foot behind the other at the edge of the roof. The Fire Fighter will pick up a rope and pull a 5 gallon bucket weighted with 23 ½ lbs. up to the roof level, using a hand overhand method. The Fire Fighter will pull the 5 gallon bucket over the edge of the roof and place it on the fire station roof. Using a hand over hand method, the Fire Fighter will then immediately lower the 5 gallon bucket back to ground level. When the 5 gallon bucket has reached the ground, the Fire Fighter will lay the rope in the original position on the roof. This completes Station #10. The Fire Fighter will then initiate the activities of Station

  • Safe Equipment The City shall furnish and maintain in the best possible working condition, within the limits of its financial capability, the necessary tools, facilities, vehicles, supplies, and equipment required for members to safely carry out their duties. Members are responsible for reporting unsafe conditions or practices, for avoiding negligence, and for properly using and caring for tools, facilities, vehicles, supplies, and equipment provided by the City.

  • Electrical Equipment Residents must use only CSA, UL-approved or Canadian-certified electrical equipment; the rated wattage of light fixtures must never be exceeded; and only replacement bulbs supplied by Waterloo maintenance staff may be used. Do not leave any unattended electrical equipment turned on (i.e. hair straighteners, lights etc.)
