EVALUATION OF ALTERNATIVE TRAIL SEGMENTS. ‌ Alternative alignment/design options will be developed, evaluated, and some eliminated based on the purpose and need for the project. Alternatives analysis will involve evaluation of both engineering and environmental aspects of the project and will include input from stakeholders and the public. The alternatives will be guided through an environmental and feasibility lens provided by the environmental planners/scientists, trail engineers and landscape architects on the team. A Project Segmentation Plan will be prepared to document the recommended project alignment and proposed segmentation along with a description of alternatives considered but eliminated. Once approved by the COUNTY, the Project Segmentation Plan information will be inserted into the PER. A desktop analysis of environmental features will be performed to evaluate the preliminary alternatives. The ETDM EST AOI tool or similar will be used to perform this evaluation.
