Common use of Examination By County Physician - Pattern Absence/Suspicion of Abuse Clause in Contracts

Examination By County Physician - Pattern Absence/Suspicion of Abuse. In cases (1) where the County has reasonable suspicion that an employee has abused sick leave; (2) where an employee has demonstrated a pattern in the use of sick leave (for example, the repeated use of sick leave on the first or last day of the work week or on the day before or after a holiday); or (3) where the employee has used 15 sick days in a twelve month period, the County may require verification of illness by a physician selected by the County. In cases where county verification is to be required, the employee will be notified, then the request for sick leave is made, to report during the shift to a designated physician at County expense.
