Expedited Surgical Service Requirements and Fees. 3.3.1 Refer to Schedule D – Fee Schedule for Sessional and Expedited Services, section 2.0 for the Expedited surgical procedure rate.
3.3.2 All Expedited surgical procedures, with the exception of Extensive Spine Surgery, and qualifying out of office hours emergency surgery shall be billed and compensated in accordance with Schedule D section 2.0 using the Expedited Surgical Premium rate.

3.3.2 All expedited surgical procedures, with the exception of extensive spinal surgery, shall be compensated on a block billing basis and billed through Teleplan using a billing model consisting of two fee codes per surgery performed:
a) The appropriate MSP surgical fee code; and
b) A time based fee code as described in Fee Schedule D, Article 2.0 and listed by Fee Codes: Level 1 (surgery time up to 1.5 hours) Level 2 (surgery time 1.51 to 2.0 hours) Xxxxx 0 (surgery time 2.01 to 2.5 hours) Xxxxx 0 (surgery time 2.51 to 3.0 hours) Xxxxx 0 (surgery time 3.01 to 3.5 hours) Xxxxx 0 (surgery time 3.51 to 5.99 hours) Xxxxx 0 (surgery time 6 hours plus)
Expedited Surgical Service Requirements and Fees. 3.3.1 Effective April 1st, 2003, the expedited procedural sessional rate will increase to $2130 per session.
3.3.2 Effective April 1st, 2004, the expedited procedural sessional rate will increase to $2227.
3.3.3 All surgical procedures that are performed on WCB clients will be billable at a rate that is equivalent to the VSC procedural rate provided that: • The prescribed Authorization for Surgery Form is submitted within ten (10) business days following the WCB’s receipt of the initial expedited comprehensive consultation report and • Surgery must be performed within twenty (20) business days of authorization of surgery by WCB. (Notwithstanding spinal surgery rules.) • Procedures performed outside the twenty (20) day period must be billed at MSP rates.
3.3.4 Referrals for surgery from Family Physicians and not WCB, must first be approved by WCB. In that case WCB approval will initiate the start date for twenty (20) business days requirement till surgery.
3.3.5 Expedited consultations requiring diagnostic investigations will be expedited using WCB services as required.
3.3.6 The operative report must be received within twenty (20) business days of the date of surgery.
3.3.7 All appropriate out-of-office hour service and surcharges (as per MSP Guide to Fees) will continue to apply to expedited sessional payments under 3.3.1 and 3.
3.3.8 For surgery scheduled in public facilities the surgeon will not displace a booked non-WCB patient in order to comply with the twenty (20) business day time constraint for expedited rates. Any surgeon found violating this principle would be excluded from this Agreement.
