Common use of Extended Disability Leave Clause in Contracts

Extended Disability Leave. a. An employee may request an unpaid leave of up to one (1) year for medical reasons. In the event the leave is used for childcare, that portion of the leave days during which the employee is disabled because of childbirth may be charged against the employee’s accrued leave days. b. An employee who is unable to work because of personal illness or disability and who has exhausted all leave available may be granted a leave of absence without pay for the duration of such illness or disability up to one (1) year. The employee may request extension of the unpaid leave beyond one (1) year.
