Common use of Extended Leave Scheme Clause in Contracts

Extended Leave Scheme. 44.1 At the election of an employee, and with the written agreement of the employer, provision may be made for an employee to receive, over a four year period, 80% of the salary they would otherwise be entitled to receive in accordance with this Agreement. 44.2 On completion of the fourth year, the employee will be entitled to 12 months leave and will receive an amount equal to 80% of the salary they were entitled to in the fourth year of deferment. 44.3 Where an employee completes four years of service under this extended leave scheme and is thereby not required to attend duty in the fifth year, the period of non-attendance will not constitute a break in service and will count as service for all purposes. 44.4 If the employer agrees, the employee may by written notice withdraw from this scheme prior to completing the four year period. The employee will receive a lump sum payment of salary forgone to that time but will not be entitled to equivalent absence from duty.
