Common use of Fixed Starting Times Clause in Contracts

Fixed Starting Times. A. Regularly assigned yard crews shall have a fixed starting time and the starting time will not be changed without at least forty-eight hours advance notice. B. Where three eight-hour shifts are worked in continuous service, the time for the first shift to begin work will be between 0600 and 0800 hours, the second 1400 and 1600 hours and the third 2200 hours and midnight. C. Where two shifts are worked in continuous service the first shift may be started during any one of the periods named in Clause (B). D. Where two shifts are worked not in continuous service the first shift to begin work will be between the hours of 0630 and 1000 and the second not later than 2230 hours. E. Where an independent assignment is worked regularly, the starting time will be during one of the periods provided in clause (B) or (D). F. At points where only one yard crew is regularly employed, they can be started at any time, subject to clause (A). G. Where mutually agreeable, on account of conditions produced by having two standards of time, starting time may be changed one hour from periods above provided. H. When the starting time of a yard assignment is changed more than one hour, or a change is made in the assigned days of a yard assignment, such assignment will be bulletined for three days and the senior qualified applicant will be assigned. I. Yard Crews will regularly work the same shifts, seniority to govern, except where at present working different shifts by rotation, such practice to continue.
