Flexibility Factor a. Teachers would not normally be expected to exceed the class size margins by more than 2 (two) students. [Note: Flexibility Factor does not apply to grades K – 3]
b. The flexibility factors in D.1.3.a shall not apply to grades 4, 5, 6, 7 class size margins unless determined otherwise by school-based teams and principals.
c. Exceeding grades 4, 5, 6, 7 Class Size Margins -
Flexibility Factor. In grades 4 – 12 the above limits may be exceeded by two students when the Board has shown that it has made best efforts (per ▇▇▇ 12) to adhere to these limits.
Section 76.1 Class Size of the School Act as amended also applies that currently limits any grades 4 to 12 class to 30 students unless it is appropriate for student learning (See section.76.1.(2.1).a), or a prescribed category of class (See section.76.1.(2.1).b). ]

Flexibility Factor a. When additional students enrol in the school after September 30th the guidelines may be exceeded by up to:
i. three (3) students in lower intermediate classes;
ii. two (2) students in all other intermediate and graduation classes with the exception of those classes designated as firm in Article D.1.2.
b. At any time during the school year the guidelines may be exceeded by up to two students in a secondary class but in such event the total teaching load of any secondary teacher thus affected shall not exceed the sum of the maximum guidelines for the classes taught by that teacher during the year.
c. Where students with special needs are included in the class pursuant to Article D.2 (Class Composition and Inclusion), it is desirable that classes be smaller than the maximum stated in Article D.1.2.
Flexibility Factor. Many schools have included this item. It leaves perhaps 5 to 10 hours available for contingencies. If the figure arrived at significantly exceeds this amount, it can only be because certain essential items are missing from the proposed WTA. The whole WTA should be re-examined in such cases.
