Adult Education Teachers. The nonreemployment provisions of the Teacher Due Process Act of 1990 do not apply to adult education teachers. Accordingly, adult education teachers are not covered by the protections of this policy and, unless otherwise required by law, are subject to a reduction in force without notice and without compliance with this policy.
Adult Education Teachers. 6.5.1 Adult Education positions are open and competitive course by course and/or session by session.
6.5.2 District teachers shall be given first consideration for Adult Education positions.
6.5.3 Effective 07/01/09, Adult Education teachers will be paid a flat pay rate of $30 per hour.
Adult Education Teachers. MITT shall determine the amount of preparation time provided. MITT will assign preparation time in blocks of not less than thirty (30) minutes.
Adult Education Teachers. For the purposes of this Agreement, the Board shall maintain a separate seniority list for adult education teachers.
Adult Education Teachers. Adult Education teachers shall not supplant bargaining unit members. If a bargaining unit member is laid off from any teaching assignment, then he/she has the right, in order of seniority and certification, to displace an adult education teacher, unless it is ultimately determined by either the Michigan Teacher Tenure Commission or a court of competent jurisdiction that such displacement violates the rights of the existing adult education teacher. The purpose of the classroom observation is to assess the rate of implementation of the curriculum and instructional practices, and to provide a direct opportunity to observe staff and to determine the resource needs of staff. Walk-throughs will be considered classroom observations. The classroom observations will meet the observation requirement for tenured teachers as delineated in Article XIII A.3. with the following stipulations:
Adult Education Teachers i. This clause shall not be applicable to adult education teachers who are laid off prior to September 30, 2004.
ii. Notwithstanding the provisions of C.2.7, service calculation for the purpose of severance shall be done on the basis of aggregate contracted hours, and severance shall be paid at the 1.0 salary of the adult eduation teacher at the time of layoff. Years of Service x FTE Salary x 5% (pursuant to C.2.7.c) (at layoff date)
Step 1 Aggregate hours of employment converted to years of service based on 1000 hours equal to one (1) year.

Adult Education Teachers a. Pay in Lieu of Benefits
i. Adult Education teachers who are employed as teachers teaching on call in Continuing Education shall be paid an additional 60 cents per hour in lieu of benefits. This benefit in no case will be less than $1.50.
ii. B.2.7.a shall not apply to Adult Education teachers who are employed as teachers teaching on call in Continuing Education who are in receipt of benefit coverage through alternate employment in SD 43 (Coquitlam) or any other school district in B.C.
b. For the first three (3) days of an assignment or assignments, Adult Educators who are employed as teachers teaching on call in Continuing Education shall be paid on an hourly basis at a rate of 1/1000th of the annual salary at Category 4, Step 0 of the salary grid.
c. On the fourth consecutive and subsequent consecutive days in an assignment or assignments, a teacher teaching on call shall be paid on an hourly basis at a rate of 1/1000th of the annual salary at the appropriate category classification and experience or at Category 4, Step 0, whichever is the greater amount. Such payment on scale shall be retroactive to the first day of the assignment or assignments.
Adult Education Teachers. 14.1 Adult Education teachers who are members of the unit shall be covered by all the Articles of the Agreement except the following:
Adult Education Teachers. Unless otherwise indicated the term Adult Education Teacher when used hereinafter in this Agreement shall refer to Adult Education Teachers with academic assignments.
A. Adult Education Teacher Work Day
Adult Education Teachers. The Board shall pay one hundred percent (100 %) of Extended Health Benefit premium costs for each Adult Education teacher with a 0.5 FTE (500 hours) contract or greater.
