USAID and Other Donors Thanks to the generous support of the US government, Open Society Institute, Xxx Xxxx Foundation, US Central Asia Education Foundation, Xxxxxx X. Xxxxxx Foundation, Norwegian Center for International Cooperation in Education, Kumtor Company, Mina Group, Bank of Asia, Petrofac Energy Development, Kyrgyz Petroleum Company, AYU Company, local businesses and private individuals most AUCA undergraduate students receive full or partial financial aid to support their studies at University. American University of Central Asia allocates a number of curriculum development, faculty development, scholarship and capital grants. AUCA has been successfully collaborating with USAID since 2010. The grant’s funds in the amount of $5,429,905 are directed towards developing programs of academic distinction, fostering faculty development and international research cooperation, internationalizing the student body, providing scholarships for Central Asian students, upgrading technology, and eventually helping AUCA to excel as the major academic and research institute in the Central Asian region. Open Society Institute supports students from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in their undergraduate studies at AUCA covering students’ tuition fees, room and board, and stipend. The OSI also provides support to Turkmen and Afghan talented students to receive higher education at the American University of Central Asia and to enable them to continue their professional career back home. Moreover, $26,693,977 were given by XXX, $565,000 by USAID, $6,000,000 by OPIC and $2,649,958 by other donors for the new campus construction. The US Embassy in Afghanistan and the US Embassy in Tajikistan make a huge contribution in education of Afghan and Tajik citizens, especially women. Facilitation of access to higher educational opportunities to younger Afghan women is one of the highest priorities for capacity building and empowering youth from Afghanistan. Moreover giving male Afghan students the opportunity to learn together, as equals, with women, and to do so in the context of a Muslim culture will create men who are more sympathetic and conscious of the role that women play in an open society, and will actively promote the role of women in the future of Afghanistan upon their return after graduating.
