Common use of HELMETS TO HARDHATS Clause in Contracts

HELMETS TO HARDHATS. The City, Contractor, and the Unions recognize a desire to facilitate the entry into the building and construction trades of Veterans who are interested in careers in the building and construction industry. The City, Contractor, and Unions agree to utilize the services of non-profit Veterans support organizations, including but not limited to, the Center for Military Recruitment, Assessment and Veterans Employment (hereinafter “Center”) and the Center’s “Helmets to Hardhats” program to serve as a resource for preliminary orientation, assessment of construction aptitude, referral to apprenticeship programs or hiring halls, counseling and mentoring, support network, employment opportunities and other needs as identified by the Parties. For purposes of this Agreement, the term “Eligible Veteran” shall have the same meaning as the term “veteran” as defined under Title 5, Section 2108(1) of the United States Code as the same may be amended or re-codified from time to time. It shall be the responsibility of each qualified applicant to provide the Unions with proof of his/her status as an Eligible Veteran.
