HIV/STI prevention Sample Clauses

HIV/STI prevention among young people As previously noted (2nd interim report) the group of young people was outlined as a priority group for prevention actions in each model region. The findings of the comparative HIV/STIs KAB survey (see WP6) in young adults from six countries conducted in 2006 brought various support for the urgent importance of evidence based, targeted and behaviour-focused prevention interventions. They were used in each region as a practice-relevant recommendations for the improvement of the available prevention response both in policy round tables and in team planning sessions. The activities summarised below took up those findings and “transferred” them into intervention tools in the context of HIV/STIs prevention in young people. Among the HIV/STI prevention achievements in the group of young people, special attention deserves the Youth Film Days (YFD), conducted with great success and regional support in the two German-Polish border regions. Developed as a concept by the German Federal Agency on Health Education (BZgA) they were implemented for first time in the frame of BORDERNET in border regions bringing young people from two countries together into a prevention event. Dedicated on friendship, love, sexuality and HIV/AIDS they offered the school students the possibility to talk openly on the sensitive topic, to learn in action (parcours) and supported the school staff (teachers, pedagogues, school psychologists and 15 UNAIDS/WHO (2007) Guidance on Provider-initiated HIV Testing and Counselling in Health Facilities‌ medical staff, etc.) with knowledge and skills to introduce HIV/STI prevention in the daily work at school. The main advantage of that intervention was that a large number of adolescents could be reached. The adolescents were motivated to take part, communicate and try things out in manifold actions. The effects of the films themselves were enacted later, since they were discussed in school class. To do this in the most effect way, workshops were offered which provided the teachers with suggestions, information and didactic ideas in order to motivate and to supply the adolescents with prevention and safety messages. 16 Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxx, Tz., Xxxxxxx X., Xxxxxxxxxx S.
