If a holiday is observed on an employee’s scheduled day off or during his/her vacation, he/she shall be paid for the unworked holiday. If an employee works on any of the holidays listed, he/she shall be paid at the rate of time and one- half (1-1/2) in addition to the holiday pay.

If Christmas day or New Year’s day falls on a holiday is observed on an employee’s scheduled Monday, that day off or during his/her vacation, he/she shall be paid observed as the holiday and the preceding Friday shall be observed as the Eve holiday. In recognition of the change in General Elections for the unworked City Council from every two years to every four years, in the years that July 4th falls on a Tuesday, the preceding Monday shall be a recognized paid holiday and in the years that July 4th falls on a Thursday, the following Friday shall be a recognized paid holiday.
